MOUTHPIECE
FOR CLOSED CIRCUIT SYSTEMS
|
REBREATHER TECHNOLOGY engineers
have developed a mouth piece, US Patent, for closed circuit "rebreather"
systems that addresses two major problems in currently used equipment.
Problem one: The closed circuit system requires
that the user be able to "close" the mouth piece prior
to removing it from the mouth while in or under the water. Operation
of current shut off valves is difficult and they allow sand and
dirt to enter resulting in damage to the valve. The rotary cylinder
valve design eliminates this problem.
Problem two: The location of the breathing gas over
pressure relief valve. Most systems have located the valve on the
counter lung. Water differential pressure makes the valve position
sensitive. Locating the valve on the mouth piece eliminates this
problem.
The REBREATHER TECHNOLOGY low profile mouthpiece
is a rotary cylinder design using "O" ring seals and having
no exterior access ports that will allow sand or foreign materials
to interfere with sealing. The over pressure relief valve is a double
valve body, one spring loaded and one free moving to insure the
valve always seals. The mouth piece is easy to disassemble to allow
easy cleaning. The large breathing bore of the mouth piece and breathing
hoses provides additional counter lung volume and dampens breathing
path surges.
The mouthpiece can
be adapted to most full face masks.
