LRT
REFILLABLE SCRUBBER

The LRT refillable carbon dioxide scrubber canister is designed to be used in the place of the LRT disposable cartridge. The canister is recommended for use by Individual instructors and FROG owners who have been trained to service the canister. The use of a refillable canister by employees may in some circumstances be a violation of OSHA regulations. Specific training in the handling of biological waste, storage and licenses/permits may be required by OSHA. Personal liability may be associated with packing a canister for another persons use. This canister should not be used by students in training or by persons using rental equipment.

The LRT refillable canister holds two pounds of absorbent material when filled properly. This should provide CO2 reduction for 90 minutes of mild work. Heavy work loads can reduce the useful life to 70 minutes. In no case should the canister be intentionally used for more than 90 minutes.

SERVICING

The canister should be washed in an antibacterial soap solution and rinsed with clean water. Wipe all moisture clear prior to filling. Place the lower granule screen in the bottom of the cylinder and fill with absorbent. The cylinder is full when the top cover fits flush with the top of the cylinder. Place the top screen under the top cover. Insure that the manifold to scrubber “O” ring is in place and carefully place the canister into the scrubber cage on the FROG manifold. Install the scrubber cage end retainer with the spring in the top cover recess.

Note: Once the canister is used, breathed through by a person, the granules are considered biologically contaminated. Refer to 29 CFR Part1910.1030 Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. December 6, 1991.

CAUTION: LRT ADVISES THE USE OF A PRE-PACKED CARTRADGE IN ORDER INSURE THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF ABSORBENT MATERIALS AND REDUCE PERSONNEL EXPOSURE TO BIOHAZARDS. PACKING A SCRUBBER REQUIRES GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL. FAILURE TO FOLLOW PROCEDURES MAY RESULT IN USER DEATH.
